Earthcare's field measuring instruments cover the most important parameters of soil and compost necessary for healthy plant growth. For example, knowing when compost is stable and mature is important if you don't want to harm young plants or seedlings. It's temperature profile & respiration rate will tell you when it's safe and ready to use. For soil, biological activity is key to converting available organic material into nutrients for plants to grow. The correct pH provides favourable conditions and measuring microbial respiration confirms how well the process is working. Finally, by measuring the soil moisture directly we can know exactly how much water to add for optimum growth. Simple sustainable soil management techniques we call "Soil-Organix".

Soil Moisture Measurement & Control Systems

The complete Decagon ECH2O system consists of low cost rugged moisture sensors ( EC5, 5TE, 10HS, EC-TM, and MPS-1) that connect into a choice of ruggedised data loggers. Data stored in the Em5b or Em50 logger can be collected directly using the hand held ECH20 Check or ProCheck terminals. For wireless transmission of stored data over longer distances the Em50R logger provides a wireless telemetry link to your PC. By using the Rm1 radio modem individual sensors in the field can be checked as and when you wish. The Datatrac software package lets you organise and see whats happening so that decisions can be made concerning when and by how much to irrigate. Having completed a number of successful fertigation projects we are now in a position to help you the grower get the most from this excellent technology.
